mpe 2025: That’s a wrap!

And just like that, another incredible Merchant Payments Ecosystem (mpe),event has come to a close! Over three packed days in Berlin, we had the chance to dive deep into the future of payments, connect with industry leaders, and share some unforgettable moments along the way. If you missed it, or just want to relive the highlights, here’s our wrap-up.
Day 1: Kicking things off
We kicked off the event with the 'AI Explored!' panel, where industry leaders delved into how AI is shaping the future of payments. The big focuses were hyper-personalisation, data security, and ethical governance. One key takeaway was how AI isn’t about reinventing the wheel but enhancing existing processes to optimise workflows and boost performance. Of course, with great power comes great responsibility, and AI-driven fraud, particularly identity replication, is a growing concern, and the need for industry-wide collaboration has never been greater.
Later in the afternoon, our Chief Marketing Officer, Miranda McLean, took to the stage for the ‘Marketing Masterclass for Investors & Merchants’ panel alongside Angela Yore (SkyParlour) Robert Kraal (Silverflow) and Helen Owen (BR-DGE) moderated by Sandra Mianda (Paypr.work), The panel explored the importance of continuous brand evolution and the challenge of standing out in a crowded market. It’s not just about having a strong value proposition, it’s about translating that into clear, tangible benefits for customers.
Meanwhile, our Chief Revenue Officer, Moshe Winegarten, sat down with FF News, to dive into the evolving landscape of e-commerce and payments. They explored topics like checkout optimisation, payment security, and the rise of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions.
We rounded off the day with a networking dinner and drinks - the perfect way to connect with fellow attendees, swap stories, and unwind after a jam-packed first day.
Day 2: People & payments
If day one was about ideas, day two was all about the people. We had the pleasure of hosting the c-suite podcast at our stand throughout the day, where over 20 merchants from the FinTech, e-commerce, and retail spaces stepped up to the mic to discuss emerging payment trends, AI, and the challenges of expanding into new markets.
Miranda also joined Sandra Mianda on the #VoiceOfMPE Podcast, where they explored the importance of building trust and credibility when scaling a brand in FinTech. Her advice? Focus on credibility and leverage personal connections to spark new ideas and growth.
Later, Moshe joined The Power 50 for an interview about the demand for alternative payment methods and the impact of the current economic climate on the industry. Then, in the afternoon, he participated in the ‘People in Payments’ panel, alongside Bram Vreugdenhill (PaymentGenes), Joanne Dewar (Project Nemo), and Brian Hanrahan (Nuapay – a GoCardless company),moderated by Simon Stokes (The Conexus Group).
This session was one of the most engaging of the event, the crowd had plenty of questions, and the discussion got quite passionate. The panellists explored how businesses can attract talent, overcome resource shortages, and foster an environment of psychological safety. They also touched on disability inclusivity and the gender imbalance in payments.
We ended the day on a celebratory note, co-hosting a drinks reception with the European Women in Payments Network. It was an incredible opportunity to dive deeper into the topic of diversity in tech while strengthening our community over a well-deserved drink. The night wrapped up with the much-anticipated MPE awards ceremony, where we cheered on the winners and celebrated innovation across the industry.
Day 3: Until next time
The final day flew by in a blur of last-minute networking, inspiring panel sessions, and fond farewells. We made the most of every minute, soaking in insights from the remaining talks and connecting with as many people as possible.
Before heading home, Miranda and our Head of Propositions, Anastasia McLoughlin, joined our friends from Project Nemo for a walk around Berlin, reflecting on the event and taking in the city’s beautiful sights. It was the perfect way to wind down after three whirlwind days.
See you soon!
