Ecommpay partners with FinTech disability initiative, Project Nemo

Project Nemo is a grassroots initiative led by Joanne Dewar, industry champion and former FinTech CEO. The project works with disability champions and service providers to educate on how to make the industry more inclusive.

As part of its growing commitment to diversity and inclusion, Ecommpay is partnering with Project Nemo to help address and ultimately solve accessibility within FinTech and Payments by providing support and expertise across multiple areas of the campaign throughout the year. This includes raising awareness through joint marketing initiatives, and supporting Project Nemo’s marketing and events needs from content writing, to design, most recently providing sponsorship for an exhibition stand at Money20/20 Europe. Passionate about championing the skills and expertise of diverse and underrepresented groups, Ecommpay’s Chief Marketing Officer, Miranda McLean sits on the Executive Board of the not-for-profit, European Women Payments Networks (EWPN), of which Project Nemo’s founder, Joanne Dewar is also a member, sparking conversation on how Ecommpay could support the new venture.

We’re delighted to be supporting Project Nemo. Increasing inclusion and accessibility across FinTech is crucial - our industry has an opportunity to lead the way, and we want to be a driving force for that change, improving the reputation of the sector and encouraging future generations to see this as an attractive career path. The FinTech space is for everyone, but there’s work needed to make the industry accessible for all.
Miranda McLean
Chief Marketing Officer at Ecommpay
FinTech has made great strides in broadening reach, lowering costs and delivering innovative products and services. However, there remains work to do to ensure that our workplaces and products and services are fully accessible, starting with raising awareness. The support we have received from Ecommpay enables our message to be heard across the industry, and I’m incredibly grateful to the whole team for their unequivocal support. The business’s sponsorship and hands-on support will help Project Nemo drive meaningful change and make the UK fintech industry more inclusive of the disability community.

Alongside Project Nemo, Ecommpay is also working on a number of other collaborative projects with organisations and charities including the RNIB, and EWPN to improve inclusion within the industry.
