Ecommpay achieves RNIB Visibly Better Employer Standard
For global payments platform, Ecommpay, inclusivity is not an afterthought; it is built into every aspect of the business including how it recruits and supports employees. Having made vital changes to its recruitment, training and career development policies throughout 2025, it has now achieved the prestigious RNIB Visibly Better Employer Standard.
People with visual impairment experience multiple challenges in gaining and retaining employment. Only 1 in 4 registered blind and partially sighted people of working age in the UK are employed and more than 11,000 people with sight loss are currently seeking work. Not only is this a social justice issue; it also highlights an untapped talent pool.
By achieving RNIB Visibly Better Employer Standard, Ecommpay is one of the first financial services providers to join an exclusive group of around 60 organisations across the UK recognised for creating genuinely inclusive workplaces for blind and partially sighted people. This independent accreditation, awarded by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), follows a comprehensive year-long assessment of Ecommpay's recruitment, workplace practices, training, and career development policies. Working toward this goal, Ecommpay addressed 23 specific gaps across the employee cycle to meet the RNIB standard.
“We have made a number of important changes to ensure we are a more inclusive employer and can better support applicants and employees with sight loss and other impairments and disabilities,” commented Miranda McLean, Chief Marketing Officer at Ecommpay.
“In the past year, we have implemented an accessibility statement as well as new policies on equal opportunities, flexible working and reasonable adjustments. We have also adjusted the entire recruitment process, from the language used in vacancy listings to providing the necessary tech for adjustments in the office. Our inclusivity and accessibility mission is not just a sales and marketing tactic; we want to bring about real change, empowering anyone to join our team or access our payment solutions.”
As part of its ongoing inclusivity programme, Ecommpay for Good, Ecommpay rebuilt and relaunched its new brand, website and payments platform in September 2024 to deliver an inclusive and accessible experience for every customer. In parallel to these changes, the business has been investing in key changes to become a better and more inclusive employer.
Alongside the achievement of the RNIB standard, it is also introducing a Health Adjustment Passport and Carers Passport, which will be available to all staff. These tools help facilitate meaningful conversations around workplace adjustments and caring responsibilities, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive and have an equitable opportunity for progression.
“For Ecommpay, inclusion isn’t an afterthought; it is built into all aspects of the business,” added Miranda McLean. “We align to the WCAG guidelines to ensure all our services are accessible, and now we are proud to have gained this important new accreditation from the RNIB to demonstrate to potential employees that they are welcome and valued at Ecommpay.”
