Ecommpay charity auction smashed target to raise more than €7,200 for Street Child
Inclusive global payments platform, Ecommpay, is proud to announce the success of its annual Charity Auction. The colleague-powered initiative raised vital funds for Street Child, an international organisation helping children access education and safety in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
The latest auction brought together employees from all Ecommpay’s offices, showcasing the creativity, skills, hobbies and passions of colleagues at all levels. This year’s lots were as diverse as the people who offered them — creative, surprising, and deeply personal.
Some standout moments include:
- Top lot of the night: Hiking experience with Ecommpay CEO, Aleex Sjarki, sold to the HR team for €250
- Consultations emerged as the most popular category, with a Public Speaking Masterclass selling for €80
- Other lots featured handmade jewellery, gift hampers, art and a range of wellness and learning experiences
Thanks to the company’s support and a generous personal contribution from Aleex Sjarki, the final donation was tripled to €7,215, all of which will go directly to supporting Street Child.
Working in over 20 of the world’s lowest-income and most disaster-affected countries, including Afghanistan, Ukraine and Somalia, Street Child is addressing all the barriers that prevent a child from being safe, in school and learning. Working with a network of local organisations and leading agencies, Street Child provides emergency aid and mental health support, builds schools, trains teachers, reunites families, develops livelihoods and helps out-of-school children get into education.
Ecommpay’s donation was made as part of Street Child’s Education Interrupted campaign, when all donations to the campaign were being match-funded pound-for-pound, doubling the impact of every contribution.
A spokesperson from Street Child said: “Ecommpay’s donation will make a real difference to children whose education is being interrupted by recent cuts to global aid. A 25% drop in education funding could push an additional 6 million children out of school, with these cuts landing on vulnerable children already living through profound disruptions including conflict and climate disasters.
“Through Street Child's Education Interrupted campaign, where every donation is generously match-funded, Ecommpay’s support will help protect children's right to education — keeping classrooms open, teachers paid, and children learning.”
Miranda McLean, Chief Marketing Officer at Ecommpay added: “Our annual Charity Auction is a clear demonstration of our ‘Ecommpay for Good’ mission - making sure the digital economy works better for everyone. Reflecting who we are as a company - creative, generous and community-minded - our colleagues brought forward their skills, passions and time to support a cause that deeply resonates with us. Seeing our teams across offices come together, contribute so openly and help raise a record amount this year has been truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud to support Street Child’s vital work and to help ensure more children can continue their education during such a critical time.”
